New Vox Guitars, the Vox Virage Single and Double Cutaway
Vox Guitars Overview Since 1958 Tom Jennings company ‘Vox’ has been producing excellent, legendary guitar amps. You might think that after the very successful ‘Amplug’ that Vox would be fresh out of ideas, but they have a new release... To go with the amp ranges, they have a new range of guitars, called the Virage. The Vox Virage Guitars are made to be different than the usual hollow body guitars with a rich tone and unique three-dimensional design. Vox Guitar Models
The first model is the Vox Virage Semi Hollow Double Cutaway guitar, known as the Virage DC, which has a distinctive design with a solid wood and semi-hollow light weight construction. The semi hollow design gives this guitar a very unique feel, unlike any other semi-hollow guitar. Each guitar is fitted with a passive hum-free ‘Three-90’ pickup system, which is designed by DiMarzio and is like having a coil, P90 and a humbucking pickup in one guitar! A hand carved neck joint helps players get easier access to the upper frets. Vox approached the design of this guitar differently, attaching the strings bridge studs to carefully voiced tone bars inside the body. This makes the clarity and sustain of the notes better than the normal method of fixing the bridge in a single block of wood. A special wiring design has been chosen after many attempts to create a robust and rugged system. It is very simple and Vox reassures that it is also bullet-proof. The Semi Hollow Single Cutaway Guitar is a similar to the Double Cutaway, but only has one side cut into the body around the neck. Apart from this difference in the cutaway, the guitars are the same. The guitars come in the following colours - Deep Cherry - Honduran mahogany body Ash Blonde - Ash Body Vintage Sunburst - Ash top, mahogany black Jet Black - Honduran mahogany, ash and ash top with mahogany black As these guitars have not yet been properly released, I haven’t yet had the chance to review. Expect to see one below soon!
