Silvertone Guitars / Models

Originally owned by the Sears brand, Silvertone guitars is one of the oldest popular electric guitar brands. Guitar players of a certain age most probably learned to play on a Silvertone. (if Jimi Hendrix was around when you were a teenager then you know what I mean!).

Silvertone are known for good value and have a reputation for being well made.

Popular Silvertone Electric Guitar models

The Silvertone Blues Master SSLA30 is a traditional double cutaway semi hollow body. This type of guitar is aimed at beginner and intermediate players. The model has a rosewood fingerboard and has dual hum bucking pickups.

There are various reviews on this guitar by current owners. I have yet to come across a bad one! Most people mention that the wood grain is noticeable through the finish, showing off the Mahogany arched top.

Another popular model is the Silvertone SSL3 Electric Guitar. This is a Session Master Pro Silvertone and a Gibson Les Paul lookalike.

With good maintenance this is an excellent model of guitar.

Overall most reviewers give this a 7.5/10, which for the cost of the guitar is very good. One of the things to keep an eye out for is the guitar set up from new, it may need a few tweaks to get it to play perfectly and occasionally is hard to keep in tune. Apart from that is a solid, value for money guitar.

Expect to get a Maple Bent Top, 2 Volume pots, 2 Tone pots, 2 Chrome Humbucking Pickups, Tobacco Sunburst finish, Mahogany body, Mahogany neck, Flame Maple top, Les Paul body style, Tune-O-Matic Bridge with stop tailpiece, and Grover-style smooth tuners.
