There are so many websites that offer free online beginner guitar lessons, but which ones are good!?
If you want some really simple guitar lessons that are great fun then I recommend Jamorama. The first 5 lessons are completely free (you can get them now by signing up using the form on the left). After that you can but the entire Jamorama course for $39.95! That's a bargain - have you looked at how much most guitar teachers cost? You can expect to pay that for just one lesson.
I have a few free beginner guitar lessons on this site that I have put together, you can see them by going to the beginner guitar lessons page. My free guitar lessons include hot to play guitar chords, guitar tuning and basic guitar scales. They will help you learn the basics so that you will be ready to learn a few guitar songs.
For accelerated learning, I would personally choose GuitarTricks, they give you 24 free online beginner guitar lessons (including video guitar lessons). If you want to keep getting lessons after that then you have to pay, but the video guitar lessons they provide are high quality and really help you to learn beginner guitar. If you really like Guitar Tricks you can get an entire year subscription for $129!
As you can expect there are tons of free guitar lessons on youtube, some are great and some are not, but be careful when learning from youtube videos as they they're not always 100% correct and teach you some bad guitar playing habits.
I originally learned the old fashioned way, paying for weekly guitar lessons. This is often the best way for most people but it can be expensive and it can be pot luck on the guitar teacher you get - you may not like the first one! The advantage of learning online is that it can be a) free! and b) if you do pay and don't like it, refunds are normally available.
